I have worked extensively in Conflans Ste
Honorine, Maurecourt and Andresy especially in 1994 and 1995. I often
go back to these regions to paint old rusty boats which have mostly
been transformed into homes.
The light is usually excellent (thanks to
the skys reflection in the water). This ensures that, even when
the weather is dark and gloomy, Im not deceived by the light
or ambiance. In other words, there is always something to paint in
these places.

A lovely day in the spring
of 1995

The end of an autumns day (1994) after a week of intensive
painting in Conflans, when Guy and I had barely discovered the site.
The picture on the right is a large canvas (format 40 F) that was
executed rapidly against the light when the sun had started its descent
on the horizon.
