Once in a while, when the weather is too gloomy, or when I have just
finished a long stint painting outdoors, I like to retreat to my studio.
These paintings are usually more contemplative. I
have tried to work on typical studio-related subjects such as still
life (either composed or spontaneous like the works of my friend Thierry
Warion), or other subjects that I can’t paint outdoors because
of technical constraints (insufficient time, bad weather, or capricious
subjects such as children) or simply because I didn’t have my material
with me at that time.
