Background

I was born in 1965. As a child, I used to spend a lot of time drawing. After high school, I chose a career in art.

While I was studying to be graphic artist, I discovered the impressionists. This awakened my interest in paintings. But it was only in 1988 that I really started painting seriously.
Since then, I have tried different techniques and methods, including the following:
- watercolours and oil paintings
- gouache, acrylic, pastel and certain mixed painting techniques which I have been exploring in great depth in the past few years.

I have held exhibitions in most of the galleries in the Val d'Oise region and have received numerous awards (see list on this page). However, I participate in such exhibitions less frequently as I prefer to have a more direct relationship with the public by organising my own exhibitions.

Degas, Lautrec, Turner, Monet and Van Gogh are painters that I greatly admire. I also look up to contemporary painters (who are mostly American) such as Hook, Chamberlain, Dawson, Curtis, and of course, my friend and fellow painter, Thierry Warion.

My approach can be described as follows:
- my paintings are resolutely figurative and descriptive.
- I see myself as a witness of the times. Many of my subjects disappear each week, each year...
- If I paint individuals in a marketplace or on a beach, I do so as a contemporary painter, and not as a painter who gets caught up with parasols or cloaks. However, I do not hesitate painting cars or agricultural machines if the subject is warranted.

I have great respect for the public, its intelligence, and its hunger to learn. I also believe growth can be achieved together: the painter must grow without constraints (especially commercial ones such as: "which format, which technique, which subject will sell most?”) If he takes the trouble to speak to his public, to express his feelings and emotions, the public will follow his progress and grow at the same time and thus provide the artist with new challenges so that he can grow and evolve continuously.

As far as I am concerned, I try to encourage people to look at the subjects that I paint in a different light.
